Brief Scope of Services
Feasibility Studies
Economics studies for assessment of benefits of Mega Projects, as compared to the total investments. Benefits cost ratio (B/C ratio), determining the economic internal rate of return (EIRR), traffic surveys and their projection over the design life of the project. Feasibility studies of projection build-operate-Transfer (BOT) system where self-financing by the private sector is involved.
Pre-Feasibility Studies for Route Selection
Identification of potential corridors, study and selection of the most suitable/ viable route for adoption of the final alignment on the basis of technical merits/demerits, cost effectiveness and durability in terms of terrain ranging from the snowcapped mountains to the areas of moving sand dunes.
Soil and Materials Investigations
Evaluation of the adequacy of soils and materials for buildings, determination of all kind laboratory and field tests. Testing is also done on aggregates, sand, cement, water, steel and bitumen to ascertain their suitability.
Geometric Design for Building & Road works
Geometric Design is a critical activity for setting out the alignment of any road. It dictates the comfort level for all road users by minimizing grades, reducing bends, kinks and other black spots along the road. Horizontal and vertical, alignments, slopes, acceleration/deceleration lanes, traffic islands, interchanges, junctions and other features.
Pavement Design
Design of Pavements to determine thickness of road layers using standard empirical methods such as ASSHTO and British Road Note 31 and other internationally accepted design modules. Mechanistic analysis of the pavement structures with requisite expertise and tools also forms an integral part for design validation.
Distress Investigations & Forensics
Road building is expensive business and when something goes wrong lesson needs to be learned. In this context investigation by means of forensics form primary means to have an insight. Expertise are therefore needed for distress evaluation and subsequent recommendations provided to the road agency for rectification purposes. This is important since a road agency cannot afford to have repeated distresses on roads where billions are at stake.
Review/Evaluation
Review or Evaluation of the already carried out design is another important area in any engineering projects. It confirms the correctness of the given design and may require additional or any missed out features for a viable design. Since Million are at take therefore review/vetting of a project design is essential where improvement or any lags are highlighted. It includes largely checking design parameters, design calculations with reference to vetting of detailed construction drawings to the best in engineering judgment.
